My love for basketry began in 1987 when I purchased a kit and wove my first basket.  Mostly self taught, until 1996 when I joined and became very active in the local basket weaving guild, the Lake Country Basket Guild.  I have since served for 5 years as the Vice President and 2 years as Co-President.  I also served for many years on the Lake Country Basket Guild's Basket Fest Committee.

I am a self-admitted mold-aholic and enjoy weaving Nantucket style baskets, twills, and anything else with a challenge.  I have written and published over 40 patterns, and exhibit and sell my baskets at local art and craft shows.  I have taught basket weaving classes in IL, IN, KY, MI, MN, MO, NC, OH, TN and WI.

Check out my teaching schedule to see where I'll be teaching classes or showing and selling my baskets.  If your basket weaving guild or organization is interested in having me come teach, please contact me and we can work out the details.

Being a full-time basket weaver gives me more time to be creative and design new baskets.  You can contact me at diannegleixner@sbcglobal.net.
